Golf is a four letter word

June 5th 2015 was an exciting day for Bushwhacker2 as they added large, separate courses to the "fast paced and riveting" game of mini golf. You can read Codename's blog about it here.
For those players whose yards were filled with mini golf items, you can now place them into your own giant golf area and make a mini golf haven for both yourselves and your friends to play on. (Thus far you have to play alone on game sites)
To get there, talk to Gilmore, located by the Lumber-mill in The Commons, to see how you wish to play. Also, a Golf area located SE of the commons has been added to the GLOBE map. Players can access mini golf courses from Amicus isle, if players have the green golf zone (beside visit ranch) highlighted.
*On Facebook, If you hover on your friends in the friend bar, there is a mini-golf token for their course.

Takes you to your own area when you can design a mini golf course in build mode.
IMPORTANT! Do not open the course until you have played it, and it has both putters and flag pieces for each hole. Otherwise you are wasting players time as they cannot complete the course, rate it for you OR get their achievement points for having played your course. So many are opening empty and unplayable courses. Please don't be one of them!
Be sure to add embellishments to customize your course area, like stepping stones, arrows, signs and make it your own! (see many hints below) Players will rate your course on fun, playability as well as design, so make it spectacular if you are vying for a place on the top 10! Ask other on Ai to play your course (or friends on Facebook) Yours and other course stats can be seen on the information "i", or left of the 5 stars.
The top-rated courses are the highest rated courses from all platforms, plus, a developer (Justin Stocks)and the community manager(Erika Kramer ) but quite a few players had extraordinary courses set up on the very first day! You really should visit them and give it a go to see its done! HAVE FUN fellow mini-golf whackians!

Bonus clown piece
Daily bonus: Every 20 hours, you can get a reward of energy, power and mana for getting the ball in the clown's mouth! This applies to anyone's golf course OR ranch set-up! The clown has a black display of the hours 'til it is available, or will say READY!
* Please, at least once in awhile, be kind and play all of the holes, as well as rate the course you are playing! many players have worked really hard and spent a lot of gold in game and cash in real to make their mini-golf course!

Mini-Golf Hints:
Playing:
☀Enter the first hole where you see the golf putter, balls and flag one. Click, and a circle with an arrow appear. When the arrow points to the area you wish to hit the ball, click again. (or click hold click) Having your cursor line up with the hole and the ball as you would playing pool helps a lot as well Release the ball using the intensity shown in the pie grid. If it is near the hole, clicking on the hole just when the bar comes back to you means you have a better chance of getting it in. The closer to you, the shorter the putt. (WAY easier to say than to actually do... so practice)
☀Once you complete playing a course, you have the ability to enter your stats to be saved and an option to rate the course. Be sure to rate other players courses when you leave! (Please be kind and rate honestly for playability and fun, as well as interestingly laid out and decorated, not just because you like the player. )
Building:
☀Be sure to leave your mini golf course closed until you are ready (leave default red x) so it is not low rated.
☀It is important to set up your course and play it before opening to assure its playability, so your players can enjoy your course and not be frustrated. Examples: Adding 5 to 10 obstacles to one hole is demanding and too frustrating. Two and 3 max are challenging and fun. Leaving open-ended/no flag holes, means a player will not be able to rate your course, nor will they get their final score.
Use stepping stones or tiles to make paths to show people which section of the course they are to play next.
☀Remember that you can change the direction of pieces to fit them together, so that you use what you have available, rather than buying parts to fit. (circular arrow, bottom right in build) Play a few courses in the top 10 for examples of layout. (Having a short distance from each flag to the next putter, with paths is important)
☀The green S-shaped ramp obstacle can only be played from left to right or bottom to top. If the ball approaches from the top or right of the piece, there is no way you can pass it. (Small ramp MUST FACE player, large ramp faces hole) if you place it just before the hole (or 2 pieces away) in a straight line, it can be a reward for a harder, obstacle filled hole as sometimes it goes in the hole, but up to you.
☀The Pot of Gold and Popcorn piece are both OBSTACLE pieces, not a hole, so you need to buy a flag and hole piece to finish them. The ball jumps out of the hole,and can bounce nearer the hole with the flag if you place it player, hole and pot of gold, then the end flag hole to finish. Place it on a straight away just before the hole or 2 away for best playability. (Placing it backwards with other obstacles makes for difficult or impossible play)
☀Castle is placed so that drawbridge faces player (Giving you 3 options) and if you place the castle just before the hole, it can go in as it straightens the ball and spits it out centrally!
☀The Boat has to have the "at rest" boat facing the player with the square 2 channel side facing the player, pointy end away from player. It works best going north or south for playability or the player MUST be able to play West to East as the piece is glitched and will FLIP to make the course unplayable when you leave.
☀IMPORTANT! Once you place a putter, a new hole is formed, but if you forget to add the flag side, you have made the course unplayable. Please, close the course and try each new hole as you make them.
☀if you are building a large course, you can plan it on paper to help ease frustration later, or use the pictures (the area pictures are in the comments) in a program that will help you lay out blocks,
☀To set/ reset the par and flag numbers, click on change, on the side with the putter. Be sure flag numbers are sequential, as changes to your course can reset the numbers. The default is par 3. Play the hole a few times to reset par to the actual hole difficulty.
☀For a little fun, play wearing the "one ring" if you have it! It makes for a more interesting, if not better game play as sometimes your character's head/hat obscures the shot when going North on a hole! Dismounting is also a good idea... as is leaving your pet area as the empty slot,
Once your course is complete, and you played it yourself to test, open it to others by clicking on the "let other people play" line. (green check) Doing so means the square by the visit other players line on Amicus Isle is now green, and anyone can come play your course and rate it!

Note: The golf course will be the same season as the ranch skin. The contractor on Amicus Isle (ranch skin tab) can sell you ranch skins for 100BBs if you want to change seasons. (The greens always remain green, only the background skin changes)
